I am in the process of creating rules for a pool at my husband’s job. I have made a note on there that all tickets will be quick picks unless the pool chooses to select a set of numbers together. It probably wouldn’t go over too well if one person chooses the winning numbers and has to split those with everyone. Even though they have joined in as a group, it doesn’t mean that it will stay that way if they have a chance at winning millions of dollars all on their own.

One aspect that I don’t like about this contract is that it allows a person to participate in the winnings even though they may not have contributed in advance of the drawings. Thus, they could “forget” to contribute until after the drawing. If nothing wins, they could try to weasel out of paying, but if there is a significant win, then they could come up afterward and say “Here’s my $2 fee, where are my winnings?”.
My contract would say that if you don’t pay in advance, then you are not a participant for that drawing and thus are not entitled to any winnings.

I am an attorney (So. California, private practice) and this is sound advice.
Have a backup resignation with another successor trustee identified, just in case of a falling-out with the primary successor trustee, etc. very thoughtful strategy.
